GET HAPPY!

Quote “It’s all right. I’ll definitely catch you, and I won’t let go. So believe in me, and let yourself fall.” — Fall in Love with Me

Hola! Feeling depressed or down? I have been looking for ways to boost an individual’s mood over the past few months and have come up with this list! I have tried every single method listed at some point in my life and they all work for me, so if you want to GET HAPPY, try a few of them out! ;) Some are pretty obvious, but…all well :B

SAPPHIRE’S “GET HAPPY!” LIST!

1. GET OFF THAT COMPUTER!

Chatting with friends on an instant messaging system or a social networking site? Browsing a billion websites cause you’re bored? Instead of instant messaging your friends, pick up your phone and CALL them. Or even better, get off your ass and MEET UP WITH THEM! And instead of browsing a billion sites, get OUT and browse a billion of sights OUTDOORS! (that was corny, but you get what I mean :B)

2. TAKE A SHOWER!

Or wash your face or drink/eat something cold (ex: Ice cream). Going out to jog or walking outdoors when the weather’s nice is also refreshing. Observe your surroundings to keep your mind off things. You’d be surprised about how many things you didn’t notice before.

3. LISTEN TO UPBEAT, HAPPY/NEUTRAL MUSIC!

Music with a great bass line or just head bopping beat is good. Try not to listen to depressing, slow songs or songs with sad lyrics that you can understand and/or can relate to when you’re feeling shitty. I recently found the techno remix of “In the hall of the Mountain King” and it is freakishly upbeat and I get a tremendous high from listening to it :S

4. FIND OUT WHO YOUR REAL FRIENDS ARE!

This is pretty hard and may take lots of time. But I guarentee you, once you find out who they are and seperate them from the people that do not matter (and hang out with them less or no more), it is a great feeling. Everyone has a different view on what a “real friend” is, but this is what I define as a “real friend”: someone who may or may not fully understand you but tries to and accepts you anyway, cares, and just loves you for who you are! And above all, you’re HAPPY when you’re with them; living, laughing and loving~ :3 And of course, being yourself. But how would you know they care? That’s for you to find out…

5. SURROUND YOURSELF WITH HAPPY, LOVING PEOPLE!

This kinda connects to “find out who your real friends are”. Everyone has different friends, but in my eyes, if a person can’t be happy around me, depresses me, or makes me feel uncomfortable, they can’t be a real friend. This means that we do not “click”, if you get what I mean. Sure, everyone has their bad days and gets depressed once in a while, but if they are just downright depressing every single time and you can’t do anything to make them feel better, that person ain’t for you. They might even rub off their gloomyness onto you! O_O

6. RELIVE YOUR CHILDHOOD!

Hang out with your friends and do something that you have once done when you were younger. This summer, me and my friends have Sailor Moon / other old school anime marathons on a weekly basis and we give each other really weird immature nicknames too (Ex: Boobie-chan, Booger-chan, Excretion-chan…you get the idea) and laugh really loudly and obnoxiously :B

7. RECONNECT WITH AN OLD FRIEND THAT YOU HAVEN’T SPOKE TO IN YEARS!

I hope that all of you had a best friend in elementary school. You probably have his/her phone number, so pick up the phone and try calling them! If he/she was your best friend, he/she should still remember you! And if his/her phone number no longer connects to them, at least you can say you’ve tried. No regrets!

8. GET A MAKEOVER!

I don’t know about you, but the way I look does affect my mood and self-esteem. Makeovers can be costly, so if you cannot afford a new wardrobe or cosmetics/skincare stuff, some department stores offer free makeovers (just pretend you’re buying something) and keep a mental note about what they say and do to you. Don’t keep your makeover a secret though, tell a friend or a family member about it and hopefully they can help :3 Also, if its your skin (ex: acne, discoloration) or your glasses that is making you feel mcfugly, go visit your dermatologist or optomologist and get a perscription for the problem or get new glasses. (Hopefully you have health insurance :o )

9. DOING SOMETHING & NOT EXPECTING SOMETHING IN RETURN!

It doesn’t necessarily mean go volunteer at an animal shelter for the rest of the summer (that’d be nice though), but just do something from the bottom of your heart for someone/something. It can be anything–something as simple as not taking allowance for a week so your parents can have some extra money for themselves.

10. TAKE A VACATION!

May it be a vacation alone, with friends or family, a vacation is a vacation! An escape from the usual people and surroundings! I am fortunate enough to go on 2 vacations every summer. tehehe :3

BOTTOMLINE: LIVE, LAUGH, AND LOVE!

This is the last, most obvious and important on my list! (and also summarizes the list) Of course, when I mean live, I mean have fun (in a good, healthy way…read #1-9 for details :B), and when I mean laugh, I don’t mean laugh at people and when I mean love, I don’t mean romantic love (because romantic love sucks and isn’t always “happy”. Go watch an Asian drama and see how much pain the couple go through –;). Just go out and have a great time with the people that you love and that love you! (What are you still doing on the computer? :B)

Yep Yep thats my list ^_^ I hope I have helped some people by writing up this list and I hope these work for all of you!
GOT ANY RECOMMENDATIONS TO “GET HAPPY” FOR ME THAT I DID NOT LIST HERE?
Please tell me! ^_~ I’d love to try it out! Spread the happiness around!~ LOVU LOVU~~~!

Music Skillet: Whispers in the Dark

Hola guys! I have been gone for a bit and I do apologize! I’ve been busy–in a good way! Let me recap on some things that have happened in the past two weeks since my disappearance! D:

On the July 4th weekend, I went to Cape Cod, Massachusetts and Martha’s Vineyard (an island off of Cape Cod). I must say, it was absolutely BEAUTIFUL! I felt like I was in a travel agent’s pamplet! I live in NYC so I don’t see much sights like this! I highly recommend a visit!

I just came back from a 3day, 2 night orientation at the college I’m going to be attending this fall – St. John’s University. Aside from the lectures, it was really fun! (surprisingly) We had a cruise and stayed at the dorms and went to visit an old people’s house thing (not a nursing home). Unfortunately but at the same time, fortunately, all the guys there were literally mcfUGLY knuckleheads. =_= Guess I’ll be focusing on my studies in college! ahaha..

During my downtime hours, I’ve been watching/reading some stuff!

(from left) Bloody Monday is a really good Japanese drama. Its all suspense and has A LOT of twists, but doesn’t overdo it. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT. However, if you’re looking for a great laugh or some sort of love story, this isn’t the drama for you (it’s actually very tragic and depressing O_O) And I own the fanlisting for it! JOIN IT PLEASE?

Next is Full Moon o Sagashite. O.M.G. I cried at book 3&4…I didn’t finish it yet since I don’t have time, but I read up to book 4 and watched up to episode 2 (the anime and manga are different but I like the manga better and so do my friends). I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT if you’re into cute and bittersweet love stuff TwT (and cute characters~ hoho)

PRETTY SOILDER SAILOR MOON! Ohh the memories! Me and my best friends decided to have a Sailor Moon marathon–that’s right, watching Sailor Moon for hours! Relive our childhood years! It was a great feeling! Tuxedo Mask is so…dreamy TwT *swoon swoon* hahaha.

Lastly, Fushigi Yuugi! I read the entire series in my high school library (yes my high school library has MANGA), but my BFFLs decided to have a Fushigi Yuugi marathon too! I’m actually sleeping over later to a friend’s house with my BFFLs to continue the FY marathon! TwT

——

And lastly lastly lastly, I got a laptop (not great, but free) from my college and..A BAMBOO TABLET! (finally!) I just got it so I didn’t have a chance to use it, but yay! I can’t wait~I’m pretty excited about it actually. Hehe. In addition, after watching Sailor Moon I got inspired to buy their nailpolish colors LOL. I also installed Adobe CS4 so I’m pretty excited about playing with that as well!

That’s all folks! I’ll try my best to return comments and blog more often! See you all soon~!

Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen

Music Kaela Kimura: Happiness

Did anyone watch Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen yet? What did you think of it? I watched it the other day with a friend, and…I did not like it. At all. -_- Tehehe, yes…this is my review of T2! BEWARE: SPOILERS!

My rating: 2.0/5.0

If you’re into action and girls wearing ridiculously low shirts (entire boy population much?) and not so much of a plot / characterization / “deep” stuff, you might find this movie entertaining. The 1st Transformers movie was a much better movie in my opinion, giving depth and personalities to the characters while presenting us with a deeper plot and a storyline that had one event leading to another rather smoothly. (even so, T1 didn’t make it to my most favorite movie list since it still wasn’t that great of a movie in my opinion :B)

Unlike T1 and other movies I would call decent, T2 had an extremely basic storyline with the simplest characters ever! The plot? Sam and friends team up (again) to save the world from the bad aliens (again), end up in Egypt (that’s new), friends/foes die but come back to life (again), beat the bad aliens (again), and everything is cool (again). But the bad guys will come up again in the next movie because they are not all dead yet! (surprise?) Oh and there is a random scene of two dogs getting it on. And Sam and his girlfriend jump from about 1000 explosions and buildings without getting tired or breaking or spraining anything?

I didn’t find the action exciting either. It was the same thing over and over (robots fighting each other) and the movie felt ridiculously long for me (well, it was over 2hours) The most entertaining part of the movie was when Sam was in his astronomy class (According to this movie, Princeton has all supermodel female students while having butt ugly male students!) and he starts spazzing out. So, should you watch it in theaters or wait? I’d say, WAIT. I watched it thinking the action would be kinda awesome on the big screen, but it wasn’t that amazing. nope.

What would I recommend instead of watching T2? UP or Star Trek (I don’t think ST is in theaters anymore though ;o) I heard Hangover was hilarious as well but I haven’t watched it myself. But…yeah! The end :B Tehehe.
